As a former professional athlete, Shawn possesses unique insight into the sacrifices required to perform at the highest level. A highly recruited lefty pitcher, Shawn chose to play Division I Baseball at Liberty University, graduating in 2009 and earning his MBA two years later. Shawn was subsequently drafted by the Detroit Tigers and also spent time in the New York Mets organization over his 6 years in professional baseball.
Playing professionally for the Mets continued a family tradition for Shawn, as his father, Tim, won a World Series title with the 1986 team and has spent over 20 years within the Mets organization. Having a professional athlete as a father also exposed Shawn to the potential pitfalls in life, especially for higher-profile athletes and their families.
Determined to use this experience as a catalyst for good, Shawn decided to become a wealth manager who would seek to redefine the experience for families with niche circumstances. Since 2015, Shawn has devoted himself to serve entrepreneurs, athletes, and entertainers as well as their families.
Upon meeting Steve in 2017, Shawn felt that there was a natural synergy, as they both were striving to create an unparalleled client experience that would embrace families with uniquely innovative solutions. Today, Shawn is integrating SYKON’s ingenuity to advance his client’s financial goals.
Time, energy, focus, and determination are all essential elements to success on the field. By applying this same mindset to his work, Shawn allows high profile families to focus on succeeding, without the additional responsibility of managing their wealth.
Shawn is active in both the Palm Beach, Florida, and Fairfield County, Connecticut, communities. He serves on the board of Hannah’s Home of South Florida and the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Palm Beach County, while also supporting the Fairfield County Sports Commission up north.
While outside of the office, Shawn enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie and their three daughters, as well as golf and tennis.
